About Ally
Dogs have always been my whole world
Dogs have always been at the heart of everything I do. My journey began training service dogs for people with disabilities, where I saw how the right training can transform not only a dog’s life but their owner’s too. From there I moved into behavioural work, helping dogs overcome real challenges and rebuilding the trust between them and their families.
As a proud Nelson local, I’m all about bringing the very best in dog training and fitness to our area.
One tool I’ve personally used and loved is the slatmill. It’s been an incredible way to keep my own dogs fit, healthy and mentally stimulated, and I’m thrilled to bring it to you.
My mission is simple: an environment where every dog can thrive.

Testimonial
“My dog Sadie always comes home shattered and so mentally tired, which is great because she’s a busy gal who loves to exercise. Ally has been amazing at helping her burn that energy off, and safely! She comes home a different dog, so much more chill. Love her Friday slatmill days, they’ve been a game changer in our house!”

What Nelson dog owners say:
“Ally from K9 Pro Health is a truly exceptional dog trainer. We couldn’t be more grateful for her incredible work. Her patience, talent and deep understanding of canine behaviour is truly remarkable.”
– Marilyn
“K9 Pro Health are amazing. My pupper can be a bit jumpy and nervous doing new things, but he loved his time on the treadmill with them. They also got him socialising in a pack, which was just what he needed.”
– Glenn, Rubin’s Owner
“The progress Ernie and Pepper have made is incredible, not just in their behaviour, but in their confidence around other dogs too. Ally’s calm, patient and knowledgeable approach made such a difference. We honestly can’t recommend her enough.”
– Daniella, Ernie & Pepper’s Owner
“We asked Ally for help with our miniature schnauzer who has serious reactivity issues. Over the last 3 months, Ally has patiently and expertly worked with him, and I’m very happy to say he has made amazing progress. We now have a calm and happy dog with a bright future.”
– Micayla, Benni’s Owner
“I highly recommend sending your pooch to Ally at K9 Pro Health. Our 5 month old American Staffy has just started her programme and comes home absolutely exhausted from all the physical and mental exercise they do!”
– Chantell, Maverick’s Owner
“We engaged the services of K9 Pro Health (Ally) to help us with our Border Collie, Kora, who was a very fearful, reactive dog. After following Ally’s helpful guidance and instructions, we now have a much calmer and happier dog.”
– Mark, Kora’s Owner
FAQs
Frequently asked questions
How do I know if my dog isn’t getting enough exercise?
Common signs are destroying the house, restlessness, excessive barking, withdrawn behaviour and stiffness. Regular exercise keeps both body and mind healthy.
Can my dog lose weight on a slatmill?
Absolutely. In a safe, controlled setting we can tailor a weight-loss programme to help your dog burn calories and improve overall fitness.
How long should a dog run on the slatmill?
We start slow. Most dogs build up to 5 to 10 minutes within a few weeks, then we increase gradually toward 30. Every dog follows our three-stage programme at their own pace.
Are slatmills safe for dogs?
Yes. Used thoughtfully and under supervision, they’re a safe, low-stress way to keep dogs fit, building their health without straining their bodies.
Are the dogs forced to run?
Never. The slatmill is completely mechanical with no motor. It’s powered entirely by your dog’s natural pace, so they decide how fast or slow they go.
